How to Write Each Section of the Work History Document

Career Summary

Here, be mindful of writing content that concisely conveys your career history.
The target word count is around 100 characters (Japanese standard).
Detailed content of your career history is written in the “Detailed Work History” section.

Applicable Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

Summarize and write around three items covering your skills and the industries you have expertise in, and so on.

Detailed Work History

Here, write your career history in concrete terms, including numbers such as periods and target achievement rates.
Be mindful of “6W2H” and write as specifically as possible.

※6W2H
When: From when to when you were involved in the work (period)
Who: Whether you served as a leader or as a member (internal team, collaboration with external partners, etc.)
Whom: For whom (the recipient of services or target customers)
What: What work you were responsible for (specific role)
Why: Why you performed that work (purpose and goals)
Where: Which department or project, which market or industry
How: What methods (approach) and tools were used
How much: What results were achieved and to what numerical degree (achievement rate, monetary value, number of cases)

Held Qualifications

Regardless of whether it is TOEIC, IT-related qualifications, or driver’s licenses, write down any qualifications you hold.
Also write qualifications and licenses using their official full names without abbreviation.
Example: TOEIC → “TOEIC Listening & Reading Test” or “TOEIC Speaking & Writing Tests”
Driver’s license → “Type 1 Ordinary Motor Vehicle Driver’s License” (普通自動車第一種運転免許)

Self-PR

This is a very important part of the work history document.
Along with appealing with strengths such as “ability to do ○○,” clearly articulate and appeal your enthusiasm regarding “Why do I want to become a consultant?” and “What do I want to do as a consultant?”
